Hopefully John Wick 3 will finally get things right, at least from a technical standpoint. I can't imagine how anyone could consider this reference level. They couldn't even be bothered to render the fancy subtitles in 4K. The whole build up to him too when the father of the guy who killed Wicks dog was amazing. John Wick to me was basically the reaper and the antagonist pissed him off. I literally suspended my disbelief when watching this movie and had the most fun. There are even haloing artefacts from the upscale. John Wick is action movies and fun done right. Also, its notable that a Java region lock is removed on my disc and not yours. The sequel looks a lot better, with a properly set black floor and nice HDR work, but boy is it soft and devoid of detail. I purchased my John Wick disc from Amazon back in March.I grabbed the Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD release here.There are no issues with playback of the disc I received with AnyDVD 7.6.1.0 and there is clear differences between yours and mine with respect to the overall number of sectors. Generally soft picture too, with absolutely none of the 4K crispness on skin and fabrics. I like subtle HDR work, but this looked no different to a bluray. The first is especially weak, with an elevated black floor which washes things out, and virtually non existent HDR. I enjoyed the expansion of the delightfully bizarre assassin's underworld stuff. Not as good of course, with a lack of one liners and awful soundtracks, but still entertaining. They're fun movies, I guess the closest modern equivalent to 80s action films. (I bought the two pack a while back after a Zavvi pricing gaff). Reward yourself by living your own revenge fantasy vicariously through these classic revenge movies above.I finally got around to watching this tonight, back to back with the first.
